Large
Areas
In larger rooms, the floor should be laid
in sections to a maximum of 8 metres. The
expansion joints should be covered with an
edging strip fixed to the subfloor. They should
not be fixed too tightly as to inhibit the
movement of the floor. This applies for long
narrow surfaces of more than 10 metres.
Subfloor
The subfloor should be flat, firm and dry.
Any uneven areas (more than 2mm) should be
filled and sanded. New panels should be laid
over wooden floor in the opposite direction
with an underlay (minimum 2mm) in between.
The panels should not be laid over new concrete
subfloor of less than 80 days due to its high
humidity level. To avoid the effects of humidity,
PE-foil (0.2mm) may be used as a moisture
barrier.
